The professional problem

Learners copy notebook cells without understanding variables, data types or why a merge produced extra rows.

Why this Sprint exists

Get learners from "I've seen Python" to using it reliably for everyday data work — reading, cleaning, combining and summarising data in a reproducible notebook. Also the readiness gate for Data Engineering, Data Science and RAG Sprints.

The five days

Your five days, day by day

Days 1–4 are 90-minute live sessions. Day 5 is an extended 2–3 hour Capability Showcase. Open each day to see what you do and what you leave with.

  • Variables, types, lists, dicts, functions, loops — only what data work needs
  • Reading errors without panic

You leave the day with: Mini-exercises notebook

Day 2pandas basics90 min
  • Read CSV/Excel; inspect shape, types, nulls
  • Select, filter, sort, new columns

You leave the day with: Exploration notebook

Day 3Clean and combine90 min
  • Dates, text cleaning, duplicates, missing values

Changed-case challenge: Reviewer supplies a new month's file with a schema quirk

  • Run the notebook top to bottom
  • Learner adapts code, re-runs and verifies counts

You leave the day with: Final proof pack, submitted after the changed-case challenge

Day 5 · Capability Showcase

Your work has to survive a changed case.

On Day 5 you present the work, explain key decisions, identify limitations and respond when part of the case changes. The final proof pack is submitted after that challenge.

  1. Present

Walk the reviewer through the work and the decisions behind it.

  2. Question

Answer challenges on evidence, assumptions and risk.

  3. Adapt

Reviewer supplies a new month's file with a schema quirk

  4. Defend

Submit the final proof pack and explain what changed and why.

Questions worth asking.

Is a Capability Sprint just a short course?

No. It is a focused live capability studio built around doing one bounded kind of professional work, receiving feedback, revising it and demonstrating what you can do.

Will this make me a Python developer?

No. The Sprint builds one bounded capability: produce a reproducible notebook that cleans and combines real-world files and outputs a checked summary. Not software engineering; a foundation for data work. SkillsNCR does not promise a role, job or placement.

Do I need prior experience?

No readiness check is needed. Prerequisite: Spreadsheet comfort. No programming experience required; practice between sessions is optional, not required.

What will I produce?

Notebook, Input/output files, Row-count/validation checks, Summary, Day 5 adapted run.

What does a Sprint cost?

₹2,000 for the complete five-day Sprint.

How long is it?

Days 1–4 are 90-minute live sessions. Day 5 is an extended 2–3 hour Capability Showcase.

When is the next cohort?
