A gap does not erase what you know, but employers still weigh current evidence. Rebuild with a skills inventory, a small visible project and an honest explanation—without promising that every hiring manager will ignore the break.

Key points

  • Inventory what you can demonstrate today versus what needs deliberate practice
  • Produce a small, dated project or contribution you can walk through live
  • Prepare an honest gap explanation; do not invent a narrative employers will not trust

Illustrative example

Illustrative example — for teaching clarity, not a SkillsNCR outcome claim.

Four-week restart sketch (adapt to your life; not a guarantee of outcomes):

Week 1 — Skills inventory: SQL joins/aggregations, Python scripts, one cloud concept, one communication sample. Mark each as rusty / workable / strong.
Week 2 — Evidence task: rebuild a tiny sales extract with validation and a one-page README dated this month.
Week 3 — Gap story (30–45 seconds): what happened, what you did to stay current or return, what you can show now. No oversharing; no blame theatre.
Week 4 — Practice: explain the project to a peer; note questions you cannot answer yet.

Eligibility note: WorkReady primarily serves final-year students and recent graduates through Gurugram in-person and online formats, with exact schedules confirmed before enrolment. A longer career break or career-switch case may need a different path—ask admissions rather than assuming fit.

How WorkReady practises this

Where eligible, the Capability Passport gives current, dated evidence of what you can do now. That evidence usually matters more in an interview than a long justification of the gap alone.
